RE: Tire pressure

i check mine weekly. low pressure will cause bad handling, bad braking and wear your tire out faster. makes no sense not to check it. not like it's a hard thing to do.

RE: Would you buy a Harley from a foreign-owned MoCo?

10ecjazzman, in a weird twist, the place i work for makes the steel that honda will use. we are building a new galvanizing line that will create 100 steelworker jobs.we also supply suburau and toyota. when we do vendor visits to these places they won't let us near the production employees. we have met up with some of those production employees after hours in the bars and they tell us that they are not treated anywhere close to what the companies want us to believe. again, sorry to hijack the thread, i didn't mean to turn it into a union vs non-union thing.

RE: Would you buy a Harley from a foreign-owned MoCo?

I see what outsourcing does to American business. It brings down the cost of the product but there is a price to pay for that. The product's quality is effected in an adverse way. It sucks. All my guitars are American made and so is my bike. There is no way in hell that I'd buy a Harley if it were made overseas. I'm a Union guy. The money that I make is because I'm a Union member. I have to stay loyal. The thought of loosing our work, livelihood, and quality goods that we make to foreign companies just sickens me. I guess that you can probably see how I feel by now. :M when i took a tour of the Victory plant in spirit lake iowa a few weeks ago i asked the guide if the employees were union. in a smug voice he replied we are "union free". now being a steelworker this pissed me off real fast (not what he said but how he said it). i asked him if they dusted for us union people like they do for rodents (he didn't get it). i proceeded to inform him without unions the middle class in america (which is disappearing) would not exist and and nobody would be buying victorys, hd's or any other bike except scooters maybe. i'm not trying to provoke a union arguement here but his attitude really pissed me off. so bad my buds had to guide me away from the little punk. i say punk cuz he was maybe 25 and had pompus ass look about him. ok, enough ranting.....

RE: Would you buy a Harley from a foreign-owned MoCo?

i ride a victory and if it wasn't american made i probaly would not buy one. american made means american owned to me. i have owned jap bikes in the past and even tho they were good bikes i never felt the pride in owning them that i do with my victory vegas. 04 vegas, 47,000 miles and running strong.

RE: Since I don't have an American V-Twin

A local bar here sponsored a bike night and had free beer for anyone riding a motorcycle. I never did understand that. wow, that is beyond stupid. sounds like a law suit just waiting to happen after someone dies cuz they got drunk on free beer.

RE: Since I don't have an American V-Twin

All motorcycle riders always comment about how totally irresponsible and selfish the drunken cagers are. However the next time you are at an outing or rally observe how many riders have several drinks and then ride home. Its disgusting. just go on a poker run. usually every stop is at a bar.

RE: 2009 Victorys

ok...why the V-twin development by Victory..and the Japs for their cruiser designs ??? ...if they wanted to be different they could do opposing cylinders ( BMW)....or flat V-4 ( Goldwing ) or some other formation.... ..but no....they want to emulate the Harley...so they go with the V-twin...... !!!! ..like wise....I'm sure Harley could develop any engine they wanted....but they are sticking to a tried and true formula...the Harley V-twin....pushrod driven....and that's 'jes the way we like it. so you are saying that just cuz HD uses a v-twin that no other company can use it without coping HD?.:h well then i believe HD copied the v-twin from someone else so that makes them a copier too right? and by that reasoning since HD has 2 wheels no other bike can use 2 wheels?? wow....talk about being brainwashed.:S

RE: 2009 Victorys

...y'know...dis Harley vs. other bikes is really quite simple. You can't confuse a crotch rocket with a Harley....they are definitely a different kind of bike. You can't confuse a BMW with a Harley....they are definitely in a niche of their own.... You can't confuse a Triumph with a Harley......etc... But it stops there... The Victory's, Suzuki's, Yamaha's, Honda's "Cruiser" bikes are all Harley clones...built to emanate the Harley. A feeble attempt to cash in on the popularity of the H-D....is there any doubt on this ???? HUH?? maybe the jap bikes look like harley clones but there is no way a current Victory can be mistaken as a Harley, just no way.

No matter how I try, I can't get into any of the Victory bikes. They look better than the latest Buell, though. yeah i know what ya mean, i have the same problem with Harleys.:D

RE: Daddy, I want a motorcycle

well at least she is taking a safety course. but there is no way i'd let her get a harley for her first bike. she can take a great course from the local abate chapter for a fraction of the cost. the harley course is a way to rope those with that gleem in their eyes into a bike that they are not ready for. you should encourage her to start small, something like a honda 250 rebel.
